Landa Gardens

Explore a public garden for the enjoyment of all

Landa Gardens is a five-acre, landscaped green space at the corner of Bushnell and Shook Avenue in the historic Monte Vista neighborhood of San Antonio.

LANDA PLAYGROUND

Have fun with children of all ages

In October of 2011, the Landa Gardens Conservancy celebrated the completion of the new Landa Playground. We graciously thank Valero Energy and the Smiley Foundation for their major contributions.

VALERO ENERGY PAVILION

Share this generous gift from Valero Energy Foundation

Landa Gardens is home to our beautiful Valero Energy Pavilion created by nationally renowned local artist, Carlos Cortés. The 30x15 feet faux bois pavilion is designed in the art form known as trabajo rústico.

Faux Bois Tables

Gather in the shade of the trees

We are grateful to our amazing and generous donors who are helping to create a gathering spot in the oak grove around the restored tile planter. Faux bois tables have been donated by Chico and Ann Newman.

COMMUNITY GARDEN

Stroll through the medieval-themed garden

The Landa Community Garden is located on the west side of the grounds of the Landa Branch of the San Antonio Public Library. It was started in the Fall of 2007 as the result of a series of community meetings.

Pollinator Habitat Pledge

Increase habitats for birds, bats, bees and butterflies

Our Community Garden is registered in the Pollinator Habitat Pledge which is part of the National Wildlife Federation’s Mayor’s Monarch Pledge. The goal is to increase habitats supportive of butterflies, bees, bats and birds.

To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug.
